"Cosmetics - The Art of Illusion"That was really flashed on the projector during my "Perfumes & Cosmetics" first lecture today, and my fren and I just burst out laughing. It is SO true. The lecturer mentioned that pple are so reliant on cosmetics for beauty, that it is fine for them to leave the house naked as in naked, but not naked as in without a tinge of make-up. But I do admit it gets tiring at times to have to spend the extra 15 mins (for normal days) or 30mins (on special occasions) on doing make-up.
There were days when I'm supposed to go out, and after I bathed finish I looked into the mirror and I thought to myself, "How the hell am I going out of the house looking lyk this crap I see?" And then I could proceed on to do my make-up and suddenly I look lyk a different person. Damn amazing... In fact, ever since I "discovered" make-up and knew how to apply them, I never felt ugly when I go out anymore. Sometimes I think every women out there are deceiving themselves by thinking that they're pretty when actually it's all make-up doing the job... and the worst thing is, once u start, u cant stop. "Make-up is Addictive", as quoted frm Jo. And true enough... it is.
There was once I was sitting in my dentist's clinic for my regular dental check-up. I picked up this overseas fashion magazine and there were a few pages that showed blown up pictures of celebrities without any make-up. Wah piang... damn scary can?? I remember vividly one of the photos was Angelina Jolie... without make-up, u totally cant recognize her, she looks so old and haggard lor. See... even celebrities need make-up to beautify themselves... much less "normal beings" like us... haha...
Maybe one day I should sit down and start counting how much money I had spent on cosmetics, and how much more will I be spending on cosmetics in years to come... should he quite a hefty sum. But if beauty can be bought, it is worth the spending that amount isn't it? YY is a sweet-looking babe, but during her bday after I applied make-up for her many of her relatives told her she look very pretty that day. I usually go my aunt's place "naked", but on special occasions when I apply make-up they all start giving comments lyk "wah, so pretty already etc etc". And secretly I've this urge to apply make-up for my dear Gwendo... ONE DAY... hahaha...
Ok la... enough rubbish on cosmetics... I'm not thinking straight... just woke up from my afternoon nap. Historical variation in EL is quite boring at first... I dozed off again... but after the break and buying coffee, amazingly I managed to keep awake for the 2nd half of the lecture. Hopefully it's as easy as Liza said... And here I'll end off by quoting something else that the cosmetics lecturer flashed on the screen (Tab I paid attention in class today!!!)
Individuals use cosmetics to:- Delibrately distort dimensions & colours- Correct perceived flaws- Create an illusion of beauty
